PACO Special Issue 18(2) 2025: Exploring the Kurdish Movement

The Partecipazione e Conflitto (PACO) special issue 18(2) 2025, “Exploring the Kurdish Movement: Power Relations, Historical Dynamics and Theoretical Perspectives,” is now available.
See the official PACO issue page for the full table of contents.

Published on 15 July 2025, the volume advances a three‑level framework and includes contributions focused on:

  • historically embedded repertoires of state coercion and colonial governance,
  • the movement’s evolving ideological corpus (Democratic Modernity and Jineolojî),
  • micro‑level processes of mobilisation, activist identity formation, and internal organisation.

Two cross‑cutting themes structure the issue: power (coercive sovereignty, revolutionary decentralisation, and intra‑movement organisation) and history (as a state instrument of closure and a movement resource for alternative futures).

The introduction by Grasso and Novellis outlines this framework and sketches future research directions on post‑insurgency transitions, DDR and autonomy design, and post‑statist political theory.
